College Essays

Students are working on the UC Prompts in class for the next 2 weeks. If students are applying to additional colleges that require different/specific essays (including short answer responses) they can also work on those in class.

We identified characteristics of good college essays as told by readers of those essays.

UC Prompts

We will spend the next few weeks writing our college application essays. We started brainstorming for personal essays in class.
Students are required to answer the UC prompts as a grade for this class:

Prompt #1
Describe the world you come from-for example, your family, community or school-and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

Prompt #2
Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?

Both prompts need to be answered in 1000 words total. You can split up the words in any way, make sure that the shortest piece is at least 250 words.
